EVERY STORY HAS A BEGINNING
SoulArt Dance Battle was created from a simple belief: Hip Hop deserved a space of its own.
Although Athens had talented dancers and a growing community, there was no event dedicated entirely to Hip Hop culture. We wanted to create a platform where music, authenticity and community would always come before trends or spectacle.
On 3 April 2022, after months of planning, conversations and collective effort, that vision became reality.
The first edition marked the beginning of a journey that continues to shape SoulArt today.

HOW IT ALL STARTED
The idea for SoulArt Dance Battle was born in 2021, during conversations about the future of Hip Hop culture in Athens.
We noticed that while many events brought different street dance styles together, there was still no platform built specifically around Hip Hop—its foundations, its music and its values.
Rather than waiting for someone else to create that space, we decided to build it ourselves.
The process wasn’t easy.
Like every first edition, it came with uncertainty, limited resources and many challenges.
But it also brought together people who believed in the same vision: creating an event where dancers could compete while feeling seen, respected and connected.
That first step became the foundation for everything that followed.

Behind every edition of SoulArt Dance Battle is a group of people who believe in the power of Hip Hop to bring communities together.
The first edition was made possible through collaboration, trust and countless hours of preparation from organizers, volunteers and artists who shared the same vision.

The judges brought experience, knowledge and their own perspective to the floor. Their role was not only to decide the battles, but to respect the dancers, the culture and the energy that each participant brought into the space.
